We are constantly being asked by members to get other members and our staff to behave in a certain way, whether it is picking up after themselves, watching their children, observing proper tennis etiquette, preventing the spreading of germs, not letting the water run without using it, using fewer towels, and many, many more. At this point, we are compiling a list of rules, policies, and suggested behaviors to keep our community healthy and happy for all of our constituents. While some of this information may be obvious, we are frequently reminded by your fellow members that not everyone is as courteous to each other as they would like. We hope the ideas and information contained in this Courtesy Policy will make the club a more pleasant place for all of our constituents.
We would love to get your feedback on this set of policies. Please share with us where we might have missed the point, phrased things poorly, or otherwise did not hit the nail on the head. Please let us know other rules, policies, and suggested behaviors that you would like to see shared. Please share your feedback by emailing Peter Goldman at pg@lakeshoresf.com.
Courtesy Policy
► While we are a club that welcomes and embraces children, we also know that not all spaces are child-friendly and sometimes kids behave like kids resulting in experiences that some adults do not enjoy. To that end, we try to keep things simple with the following guidelines, but would encourage parents to supervise their children to ensure that they behave appropriately.
● Children under the age of 14 must be accompanied by an adult.
● Children under the age of 14 are not permitted on the 3rd floor fitness areas unless they are supervised and certified through our youth certification program to use the equipment.
● In the common areas of the club, such as the restaurant or walking to and from areas, please supervise your children so that they are well-behaved; in general this means no running, playing, shouting, bouncing basketballs, etc. in common areas.
● The 2nd floor locker rooms are intended for adults. Children under the age of 14 need to be accompanied in these areas and should behave appropriately. The 4th floor locker rooms and the family changing rooms are intended for children and their families.
► Etiquette and courtesy in various spaces
Running track: The running track is for running or walking. It is not a place for doing other types of exercises such as throwing medicine balls or jumping rope. Please make sure to wear appropriate running shoes. Please do not spit on the track or the walls. Please be aware of others on the track, giving way if you are walking in pairs, allowing others to pass, not stopping suddenly, etc. Please do not cross the track without looking both ways first nor right in front of someone else.
Tennis courts: Please observe appropriate tennis court etiquette, including waiting until after a point is over to cross through a court, not shouting or making other loud noises which disrupt play on adjacent courts, etc. Please do not cut through tennis court 5 to get to courts 1, 2, 3, or 4; instead go up to the 2nd floor, down the training catwalk, and down the stairs near court 4. Please wear the proper tennis shoes at all times to avoid injury. Please clean up after yourself by throwing your cups away and taking towels off the courts. End your play when your reservation is over. Please do not take the club balls with you.
Group Fitness studio: Please do not cut through the studio to get to courts 7 & 8; instead go up to the 2nd floor, past the basketball court, and down the stairs to courts 7 & 8. Please use this room to work out in when classes are not in session, but put stuff back where it belongs when done. Please do not play in this room and please do not play soccer, kickball, or other games with balls in this room that might break the mirrors. Please return equipment to where you got it from when finished.
Locker rooms: Please return dirty towels to the bins rather than leave them on the floors of the shower or locker areas. Please turn off water when not actively using the water. Locks left on overnight will be cut off so please remove your locks at the end of you workout. If you would like a permanent locker, please check with the Front Desk. Please use gender-appropriate locker rooms for kids over the age of 2, or use the family changing rooms on the 4th floor.
Cardio/Strength areas: Please return equipment to where it belongs after use. Please re-rack weights on the free weight equipment. Please use lockers to store your personal items and do not leave them on the floor. After using equipment, please wipe down the equipment. Please only use the equipment for its intended purposes. Please be aware of those around you particularly when doing kettle bell swings, jumping rope, or other activities which may interfere with others’ use of the same space.
Front desk: Please show your LSF ID when entering the club—it speeds up the process so members standing behind you get through quicker and ensures that the club which you pay for will be available for only those who pay for it. Ensuring that only those who are authorized to be in the building helps create a more secure environment for everyone.
Pools and whirlpools: Please shower before entering any pool or whirlpool.
► Attire – Please dress appropriately in all areas of the club. Please wear shoes and shirts in the common areas and please only change apparel in the locker rooms or bathrooms.
► Cell phone usage – Please do not use your cell phones in the cardio or strength training areas as conversations often are loud and end up disturbing those around you. In addition, talking on a cell phone while working out can be unsafe to yourself and others around you. If you need to make or take a phone call while working out, please retreat to an area where others are not distracted by your conversation, such as 1320 Market, the roof, outside the 4th floor pool, etc.
► Help keep everyone healthy – Please use the hand sanitizers and sanitizer towels regularly to reduce the likelihood of passing or picking up germs. If you are sick, please do not join other members in confined spaces like the steam or sauna rooms where you are likely to infect others.
► In the event of an emergency, ask for any employee to help you. All of our staff is trained on how to handle the situations. If you call 911, please let us know so that we can help get the first responders to the right place.
