As a reminder, tennis courts must be scheduled through our computer system for you to use them. Please use our app (search for MyLSF in your app store) to reserve the courts to save money. Even if a court is empty, you may not just use the court. If you are part of pre-paid summer programming, you are entitled to complimentary court reservations – please contact the Front Desk to make these reservations. Finally, tennis courts reservations are only for tennis or pickleball play. Should you want to use the courts for any other purpose, please
contact LPRacquets@LakeshoreSF.com to make arrangements. Racquets can be rented from the Front Desk and balls may be purchased from there as well.

Just for Adults

Make Your Day with a Sparkling Rosé!
Currently on our Harvest Rooftop we are featuring the Canard-Duchêne Charles VII Brut Rosé for a limited time only! Lakeshore Sport & Fitness is the only place you can buy it by the glass in the entire city. On its centennial anniversary, Canard-Duchêne created the exceptional Charles VII cuvée in tribute to the Champagne region’s royal past. Food and Beverage manager, Robin Sweet, describes it as “soft, elegant, sultry and leaves you yearning for another glass.” With just one glass, you yourself will feel like royalty. This delightful beverage pairs perfectly with Chef Trevor’s Faroe Island Salmon Entree for dinner on the roof. Taste the freshness of the wild salmon caught off the coast of Norway blended with a delicate clam sauce. Top it off herbs and spices from our very own rooftop garden and you have the ingredients for a perfect evening.

Learn the Difference of Functional Training versus Strength Training
Functional training is a full body training style that allows individuals to adapt or develop exercises which allow individuals to perform the activities of daily life more easily and without injuries. This style is to be more generally fit and ready for whatever curve balls life throws at you, while helping reduce the risks of injuries. This training style can also be specific to a certain function of goal in mind, for example running a marathon and can help make an individual’s body type leaner with lower body fat percentages.

Strength training is training with the use of resistance. The resistance can be weight, body weight, the force of gravity, etc. Strength training focuses on muscle contraction which helps build strength, anaerobic endurance, and increasing the size of skeletal muscles. Strength training can help improve general health and well-being, increase bone density (which is vital while and individual ages), increasing muscle, tendon, ligament, and joint strength, increased metabolism, and good cardiac health.

It is important that an individual practices both styles of training in order to handle the hurdles of life, and maintain a healthy body. For more information or a hands on demonstration email PT360@LakeshoreSF.com

Direct Access to Lakeshore Physical Therapy is Near!
Until recently, Illinois was one of a handful of states that required physical therapy patients to obtain a prescription for care from a medical doctor. This is about to change! Our direct access bill officially passed both chambers of the Illinois General Assembly and is sitting on Governor Rauner’s desk awaiting signature. Bill HB 4643 amends the law to allow physical therapists to evaluate and treat patients without a prescription, thus eliminating wait time for care and lowering costs associated with multiple office visits. When signed, anyone who feels they would benefit from physical therapy can schedule a consultation, rather than waiting for the symptoms to become chronic or more severe.

In addition to saving money by early intervention, physical therapy is a safe, effective, nonaddictive, non-invasive treatment option for many painful conditions. Our physical therapy community is confident that with less barriers, the patient can choose PT as a first treatment option leading to a speedy recovery.

Childcare This Fall at Lakeshore Sport & Fitness
Our already amazing child care program will be making some additions for the fall which will enhance your child’s growth and development as well as their experience in our program. We will be adding infant/toddler and preschool curriculum to our program as well as school aged activities when our older friends visit. While we wanted our summer to be an extension of our camp experience, we would like the fall to be an extension of our preschool. The children will have choices in what activities they would like to participate in as well as free choice to just explore our toys and books. For information please contact ErinC@LakeshoreSF.com.

Joanna – Lead Camp Consoler
Joanna is an amazing addition to this year’s camp staff. She’s currently at Smith College in Massachusetts studying Neuroscience.

Q: Is a hotdog a sandwich and why?
A: A hotdog is not a sandwich because the bread is sliced vertically instead of horizontally. I bet you’ve never heard that answer before!

Q: Who would win- a duck sized horse or a horse sized duck?
A: Oh, size would definitely win. So it’s the duck sized horse…no, no, no, the horse sized duck!

Q: If you could teach the whole world one thing what would it be?
A: How to use words effectively, because I think communication is important. Yeah.

Q: What is one thing that made you smile today?
A: Ohhh, my campers! Definitely my campers, they’re so funny. They make me laugh every day.

Q: What is your favorite day and why?
A: Ya know, I love Wednesdays. Because of that Geico commercial? With a camel, and he’s like, “Guess what day it is? Hump day!”

Linus B. aka (Blanket) – Team: Ramblers, 8yo
Linus is one the campers that always has a smile, and always fun to be around because of his smart cheeky answers and classy British accent.

Q: Is a hotdog a sandwich and why?
A: Yes, It is because it has bread and something inside it.

Q: Who would win- a duck sized horse or a horse sized duck?
A: A horse sized duck, because it’s bigger and probably faster.

Q: If you could teach the whole world one thing what would it be?
A: To run.

Q: What is one thing that made you smile today?
A: Being questioned!

Q: What is your favorite day and why?
A: Halloween, ’cause you get candy.
