Boxing Bootcamp – 2nd Night Added!

Our newest and most exciting form of intense small group training has grown so quickly that we’ve added a second night! Boxing Bootcamp will now be running every Tuesday and Wednesday at 5:30pm.

For only $45, you’ll receive a full hour of one-on-one boxing with a personal trainer – focusing on form, technique, self-defense, and intense fat-burning activity – as well as use of the kettlebells, ViPR logs, and InBody scale to track progress and see real results. Wraps and gloves can be provided, or feel free to bring your own if you have them. Participation changes weekly, but classes can fill up quickly, so contact to register and save your spot today!

Meet Our Newest Trainer – Carley Burger!

“I grew up in Michigan and graduated with a BS in Exercise Science from Grand Valley State University.  I was an NCAA division 2 athlete, running cross country and track.  After graduating I obtained a certification as an Exercise Physiologist from the American College of Sports Medicine.  I’ve been in the fitness industry for the past 8 years as a personal trainer and Fitness Manager.   Throughout my career I’ve worked with a variety of clients ranging from elderly population, injury prevention and rehab, general fitness and elite athletes. I take a wholistic approach to wellness as a lifestyle.  My certification includes FMS, Kettle Bells, TRX, cycling, trigger point, pre and post-natal exercise, and progressive body weight training.  In my free time, you’ll probably find me running on the lake path.”

Healthy Heart Tip – Eat More Plants & Fish!

Over the next few months, LSF Corporate Account Manager, Sean Herron, will share some amazing tips on how to achieve a healthy heart! LSF is committed to walking with you through these steps and will also be sharing how the club can support you and others in making these changes.

Tip#1: Eat more plants and fish – Stock up on colorful foods that are rich in heart-healthy antioxidants, such as pomegranates, blueberries, tomatoes, and spinach. Antioxidants decrease your risk of heart disease because of the anti-inflammatory effect they have on the blood vessels, says Marisa Moore, R.D., a spokesperson for the American Dietetic Association. They help get rid of the plaque buildup in the arteries, keeping vessels clear.

Many fruits and vegetables, such as oranges, bananas, and mushrooms, are also high in potassium, which helps regulate blood pressure. Moore recommends eating five to nine servings a day of fruits and vegetables, making sure you have three different vegetables and two kinds of fruit. “A variety gives you a healthy balance of the nutrients you need,” Moore says.

It can be difficult to navigate your grocery’s seafood section and make it a habit to include fatty fish like salmon, sardines, or rainbow trout in your diet. Moore says adding a four-ounce serving of fish like these to your menu twice a week is a great way to get your omega-3 fatty acids. This helps reduce the risk of heart disease by decreasing your blood pressure and triglycerides.

Our recommendation? Stop by PRESS KITCHEN for a healthy Korean Salmon Bowl that has spinach, mushrooms, and more to help kickstart your progress to a healthy heart!
