Sports are critical to a child’s development, not only in improving physical fitness but also in developing teamwork, leadership, and respect. The LSF Kids Sports department’s experienced staff teaches kids not only the fundamentals of individual games but also a love and respect for playing sports. Your child will develop motor skills, sportsmanship, and an appreciation for activities that will keep them active for the rest of their lives.
Our programs focus on two age groups:
- Kids under 10: These classes focus on developing hand-eye coordination, teamwork, and a sense of play through sport and dance-based programs.
- Kids in grades 4-8: These classes focus on building confidence, skill, and physical consciousness, teaching kids valuable lessons as they continue to grow into adolescence.
LSF Academy – Basketball
Basketball is a great way to instill confidence, teamwork, and discipline; all the while making new friends! Children will improve their endurance, balance and hand-eye coordination, agility among other skills in this comprehensive program.
BITTY BASKETBALL (PreK to Kindergarten)
An entry-level class that is intended to provide bitty ballers with foundational skills around hand-eye coordination, ball handling, parts of the court, and the value of teamwork. This class is very play-based, as we focus on skill development through fun drills and games.
YOUTH BASKETBALL (Grades 1-3)
This program is designed to get you prepared for the next level. Whether your goal is to learn the sport, strength skills, or try out for an upcoming basketball season or AAU team, fundamentals of dribbling, shooting, passing and conditioning will be emphasized in this challenging program. Players will also be introduced to the rules and strategy of the game and better understand spacing on the court.
JUNIOR BASKETBALL (Grades 4-8)
A continuation of youth basketball, this program will prepare each player for the next level by focusing on the development of ball-handling, shooting, passing, and conditioning with an emphasis on speed and agility enhancements. Players will also play scrimmages to focus on offense and defense strategy as well as court awareness.
PRIVATE BASKETBALL TRAINING
Private training can be geared for players who need more individualized attention, have trouble staying on task in group classes, or have specific goals to achieve. Private training allows for instructors to personalize goals and objectives specific to the player. Lessons are skill-based, focusing on developing individual skill sets (dribbling, shooting, passing, strategy, and more), starting at where the player currently is and helping to sharpen and develop skills set to maximize his/her ability on the basketball court. Private training does not follow class sessions; however, most maintain a weekly standing time with their instructor. Lessons will be held in the gym.
LSF Academy – Dance
Dance is the foundation of an active lifestyle! Give your child an opportunity to build social strength, improve posture and range of motion and stimulate creativity. Dance is a great alternative to team sports and most importantly, dance is FUN!
TINY DANCERS (PreK to Kindergarten)
This is a creative movement class that promotes self-esteem and self-discipline in an environment where children learn through games and imagination. Through exploration children experience concepts of rhythm, shapes, levels, and different qualities of movement. Children are highly encouraged to wear leotards, tights, and ballet slippers.
JUNIOR DANCERS (Grades 1-4)
This is an introductory class to the foundation and discipline of dance. Students will be guided through the basic arm and feet positions, alignment, and body placement of different dance styles to gain strength, coordination, technique, musicality, and rhythm. Students will gain self-confidence in a positive and supportive classroom environment. No previous experience is needed. Ballet slippers, tights & leotards are strongly encouraged.
Soccer Skills & Drills
Soccer is a great way to instill confidence, teamwork, and discipline all the while making new friends. Children will improve their endurance, balance, and agility, among other skills in this comprehensive program.
KIDS SOCCER (PreK to Kindergarten)
This introductory program is designed to introduce your little kicker to the fundamental concepts of soccer and teamwork. It is also the opportunity to improve their social, motor, and listening skills as they learn the basic concepts of passing, dribbling, and shooting. Players are introduced to these aspects through fun drills and games as we focus on skill development.
YOUTH SOCCER (Grades 1-3)
This program is the opportunity to learn the sport, strengthen skills, and prepare for the upcoming season. This program will focus on the fundamentals of passing, receiving a ball, trapping, dribbling, shooting, and precision. Players will be introduced to the rules and strategy of the game and gain a better understanding of spacing.
Born to Run Youth Training Program
Join LSF as we prepare young runners for 3Ks, 5Ks, and even half marathons! Our team of high-energy, fun, professional trainers will focus on individual progression tracking with each of our runners. Runners will learn how to breathe, focus on footwork, and stride while being conditioned in a fun, social atmosphere. We’ll utilize Lakeshore’s 1/4 mile indoor track, training studios and equipment, outdoor rooftop, and more to build progress. We’ll share workouts with parents each week as well as a Parent Progress Report at the end of the 10-week session.
